Donations hit the right note

Two councillors helped Spalding Encore Orchestra members have a chance to play new instruments.

The group, which meets on Tuesday nights, encourages those who previously played an instrument to take it up again and play as part of a new group.

It is being run by Zeph Churchill who organised a session with a difference recently.

Participants and members of the public were encouraged to come along and play an instrument completely new to them.

Conductor Anthony Grunwell was on hand to explain how the instrument worked, and how music theory helped play it.

The sessions received funding from the South Holland District Council budgets of members David Ashby and Mark Le Sage.

“It was a fabulous night,” said Coun Le Sage. “Huge congratulations to all involved for such a wonderful evening of music intermixed with information about each piece by conductor Anthony Grunwell.

“Coun Ashby and myself were very proud to support the event via a contribution from our budgets and we look forward to the concert the Encore Orchestra are holding on October 4.”
