Dominic does the double

Spalding bowls ace Dominic McVittie has added to his already impressive season by winning the men’s national singles title at Nottingham IBC.

In the last 16, McVittie beat David Holmes from Folkestone 21-7 and followed it up with a 21-14 win against former world top 16 player Jamie Chestney from Ilminster.
McVittie booked his place in the final by beating fellow England international Martin Heitzman from Falaise 21-11.
His opponent in the final was another England international, Paul Hartley from South Shields.
In the final, McVittie raced into an 11-0 lead and continued his impressive form as he closed out a comfortable 21-12 win and lifted the men’s national singles trophy for the first time.
McVittie added this title to the champion of champions singles title that he won in February and he will be England’s representative at both the British Isles and World Championships next season.
qOn Sunday, Spalding Indoor Bowls Club travelled to Lincoln for their final fixture of the season.
The match was closely contested and Spalding were only one shot (81-80) ahead at 15 ends before earning a 110-93 win.
The top winning rink was skipped by Dee Brinkman, with Tony Schorah and Max Butters.
Spalding finished the season winning 11 of their 13 friendly fixtures.
