Dinners donated to new food bank

Gosberton Food Bank is the latest to receive a donation from our Donate A Dinner appeal.

Coun Harry Drury dropped off 30 freshly prepared meals, courtesy of A Country Kitchen and donated as part of our campaign.

The Spalding and South Holland Voice has teamed up with Coun Drury to launch Donate A Dinner – an appeal which aims to ensure that no child in the district goes hungry while schools are closed because of the coronavirus pandemic.

We have asked readers to donate basic storecupboard essentials such as pasta, rice, flour and bread, which are being collected at Sainsbury’s Spalding store.

Members of Gosberton Food Bank receive 30 meals from Coun Harry Drury on behalf of A Country Kitchen.

From there Coun Drury is collecting them and ensuring they are distributed to vulnerable families across South Holland.

He said: “This week, as well as continuing to support Spalding-based community groups, we also went to meet a newly-formed food bank in Gosberton being facilitated by Rev Ian Waters.

“Having supplied them with a donation from A Country Kitchen who very generously gave 30 freshly prepared chilled meals, I had the opportunity to learn more about the fantastic work the new food bank is doing so that residents in the village and surrounding areas do not have to travel into Spalding to access food parcels.

“Being supported by a cross section of the community from local business people who are unable to work, to retired residents with a great sense of community spirit.”

We’d be delighted if you would support our appeal.

Donations can be left at the collection point at Sainsbury’s while you are out getting your essentials. Alternatively if you are unable to get to Spalding but would still like to help, please get in touch and Harry will endeavour to have your donation collected from your home. Please email [email protected] or [email protected] with your details.
