South Lincs Competitive Swimming Club’s Emma Croker, Alex Sadler and Isobel Gosling have all been selected to national talent programmes for 2020 to help develop their careers.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation, Swim England – the governing body for competitive swimming – will be running their programmes via Zoom rather than in person for this year.
The Swim England talent pathway aims to develop and enhance skills, knowledge and behaviours at each stage of a swimmer’s journey through the sport.
The programme has county, regional and national stages with swimmers progressing onto specialist event camps.
Croker, who is 15, has been selected to the Swim England National Event Camp for 2020 that will take place over two days in November.
She will have the opportunity to learn advanced technical skills and tactical development for her sprint events.
The camp will also help with nutritional advice and practical ways of monitoring health along with accessing other sports science services.
Croker is one of only 90 swimmers selected nationally to participate in these specialist event camps.
Sadler and Gosling, who are both aged 13, have been selected to the Swim England National Development Programme for 2020.
The programme focuses on the development of all four strokes and individual medley, while also teaching swimmers about the benefits of dry land training.
Sadler and Gosling will also have workshops on nutrition, competition and injury prevention.
The two South Lincs swimmers are part of only 48 swimmers selected in the Midlands to participate in the programme.
South Lincs Head Coach Keith Haynes said: “I’m delighted to see three swimmers from the club selected for participation in the Swim England talent programme for 2020.
“This is a real opportunity for them to gain greater insight into what it takes to be a top level athlete. They have the chance to pick up technical advice on their strokes and develop their knowledge and understanding of other areas such as nutrition and competition preparation.
“I’m very proud of all three swimmers to have achieved their selections.”
