Derby date brings season to a close

There will be more than local pride at stake on Saturday when the Lincolnshire Board Premier League season draws to a close.
A derby encounter pits Spalding against Long Sutton and the hosts still have a faint chance of avoiding the bottom two positions.
However, they face a Sutton side who will be buoyant after chalking up their second win of the campaign last Saturday, seeing off Nettleham by four wickets.
Davico Kruger (3-11), Josh Baker (3-28) and Paul Edgeller (3-34) wrapped up the visitors’ innings for 91 but the hosts made hard work of their reply, falling to 60/5. It looked tight at 81/6 but Edgeller (22no) and Baker (6no) steered them over the line.
Lindum opener William Wright was Spalding destroyer-in-chief, rattling up an unbeaten 153 off 136 balls in his team’s 274/5.
Even so, Spalding made a decent fist of things with Jon Manton (77), Divyeash Vaseeharan (27), Nilantha Atapattu (21), Harsh Bhandari (31) and Yuvraj Ranaut (22) keeping the scoreboard ticking over before running out of wickets 22 runs short of victory.
Long Sutton Seconds’ openers Aron John (116no) and Luke Barnes (61) scored 177 between them on their way to 231/1 in Division One of the South Lincs Border League.
Aron John (3-26), Callum John (2-18) and Rob Simpson (2-40) were the pick of the attack as Heckington were out for 151 to secure an 80-run victory in the last game of the season.
Spalding Seconds completed their season with a 229-run defeat at home to Royal Boston after scoring just 46 runs in reply to 275/8.
Moulton Harrox bounced back from last season’s relegation in the best way possible by securing promotion back to Division One with a 100-run win against Belton Park. Opener Jamie Juckes (52) and Ruari Drumm (55) from No. 4 built solid foundations with later support from Mohammad Alam 31 to reach 195/9. Eight bowlers were given the chance to turn their arm over as the visitors fell for 95 after collapsing from 39/1. Flynn McMillan (3-20), Zak Maddison (2-7) and Alam (2-9) were the pick.
Moulton Harrox bounced back from 8/2 and 23/3 to earn a 23-run win at Market Overton in Division Four East of the Rutland Sunday League.
A 94-run stand between Drumm (50) and Oliver Despicht (41) helped them recover to 147/6.
A couple of frustrating partnerships kept the hosts alive before Blake Wolstenholme (3-34) and two wickets apiece for Despicht, Anish Suwarneraj and McMillan saw them all out for 124.
