Delay to bridge works

Works on and around a bridge near Gedney have been delayed.

Construction work on the Kingsgate Bridge and around the junctions of Chapelgate, Hall Gate and Roper’s Gate started in late June and was meant to last eight weeks before resurfacing works were carried out.

Now though Lincolnshire County Council say the three weeks of resurfacing works can’t take place until Tuesday, October.

A county council spokesman said: “This is due to unforeseen utility issues during the ongoing bridge rebuild.

“A full road closure will remain in place until late October, with a signed diversion route in place via A17 / Lowgate / Roman Bank / Main Street / Hallgate, and vice versa.”
