The first £1,000 winner in South Holland District Council’s recycling rewards scheme has been awarded his prize.

Long-term recycler Jason Carswell was rewarded for his dedication when his name was drawn from all the initial £100 winners in the Green Bag Lottery’s first three months.
Ten households are randomly and secretly selected every four weeks. Each one which presents recycling for at least three out of the four weeks wins £100.

Jason, of West Street, Crowland, said: “I have always been a recycler.
“I started on the day I received my first recycling boxes from the council, well before the green bags were introduced.
“I probably put two big green bags of recycling out each week.

“The lottery scheme is brilliant. I think it will really encourage people to recycle, especially when they see it promoted in the papers. It also helps raise awareness of recycling more generally and lets people know what to put in their green bags.”

Latest £100 winners:
Carol Heanes, Sutton St James
Mr Reast, Spalding
Mr and Mrs Bilbie, West Pinchbeck
Michelle Green, Spalding
Janet Seymour, Deeping St Nicholas
Michael and Tracey North, Holbeach
Laura Fletcher, Holbeach
