Decision day for parade plans

A decision on the Holbeach Remembrance Sunday parade was due to be made on Wednesday.

A plea for volunteers to help steward the event went out earlier this month as there were fears it may not be able to go ahead.
A final decision was due to be made when the town council and Royal British Legion held a meeting yesterday.
Although it has become the tradition for a parade in the town, there has been a question mark over it.
More volunteer stewards will be needed if the parade is to follow the normal route.
“There will be a Remembrance Service in Holbeach as there always has been. We will take a decision about the parade itself on Wednesday afternoon,” said Coun Isobel Hutchinson.
The council has taken over the organising of the parade element of the event and there has to be enough stewards on the day to meet regulations – which might prove to be difficult.
“We will have to look at this going forward. It may be the length of the parade might have to be adjusted,” said Coun Hutchinson.
lMeanwhile, the council is hosting a meeting to discuss ways of celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee next year.
There will be a public meeting on Monday, October 11 at 5pm to discuss the celebrations. Everyone is invited to take part in the meeting and plan for the long weekend in June 2022.
