DARTS: Ace Mace wins super Pinchbeck league singles final

Gary Mace and Neil Glover lit up the Crowsons VW Pinchbeck and District Darts League’s finals night with a stellar singles showdown.

In the final match of the night, Riverside B’s Mace edged out Glover (Lincoln A) 3-2 in a match that boasted 21 ton-plus scores to get his hands on the top individual trophy.

Contested by two of the league’s in-form players over the best of five legs, Mace went 2-1 ahead before Glover hit back with a 101 checkout to level things up.
Glover then had three darts at double 16 to win, but missed – allowing Mace to take the title.

Seven other finals were contested on the night at Spalding Services Club, starting with The H&H Cup (Division B and C sides only).
Contested between Donington duo Black Bull and Legion, late wins from Bryan Holland and John McGuire – the latter throwing two 180s – sealed a 5-2 win for Legion.

The next trophy decided was the Captain’s Cup, with Lamb and Flag skipper Ash Allen beating Drayman’s Arms captain Tony Clark in straight legs. Both players performed well, with Allen’s slick finishing the key.

The Ladies’ Cup final was a non-event, with Dawn Barnard (Drayman’s C) unable to attend. That ensured that Fisherman’s Arms thrower Alison Green was awarded the trophy by default.

The top team trophy on offer was the Knockout Cup final, which was a battle between two of Division A’s top three sides.
In what proved a very close and high-scoring clash, champions New Saracen’s Head C beat third-placed Lamb and Flag C 5-2 to complete a league and cup double. Duncan Hunt starred in that one with a 15-dart leg.

The Mixed Pairs finale was another tight tussle, with Lamb and Flag pair Dan and Nic Vaughan seeing off New Saracen’s Head C’s Mark Horspool and Lisa Brooks 2-1.

Then came the Fours final between New Saracen’s Head C and Riverside B.
Once again the scoring was close, but it was Riverside B who edged the clash 3-2.

That theme didn’t carry over into the League Pairs final, though, as Riverside pairing Adam Bourne and Kev Hawes beat Lincoln A’s Tim Halifax and John Charlton 2-0.
