Figures of 4-40 from Darren Hibbert weren’t enough for Moulton Harrox on Saturday as they slipped to a big 105-run loss against Claypole.
Harrox won the toss in the South Lincs and Border League Division One clash – but suffered a long day in the field after inserting their visitors into bat.
Skipper James King led the charge with 67, while Chris Wharmby (26), Martin Cragg (25) and Kevin Jaques (22) all scored pretty well in Claypole’s 225-9.
Hibbert was the pick of the Moulton bowlers, with the clean-bowled King being one of his four victims.
Alex Baker (2-30), Matt Barentt (2-24) and Andy Goodley (1-18) were the other wicket-takers.
Moulton lost Barnett for nine early on, but Joe Broomfield (27) and Will Naylor (12) put on 36 before Broomfield became one of Kristian Lemon’s five victims (5-40).
Lemon also snared Naylor and Andy Goodley (31) to expose the lower order – and Moulton duly collapsed from 78-2 to 120 all out.
Hibbert, Rob Sexon and Alex Baker all scored ducks as the home innings was wrapped up in the 27th over.
Moulton picked up five points from the defeat as they stayed just clear of the relegation zone.
They visit Boston 3rd, one of the two teams below them, on Saturday (1pm).
