Damage to cable leaves Long Sutton and Sutton Bridge residents without internet

A number of homes in and around Long Sutton and Sutton are entering a day without internet and phone signal.

Residents in the area started reporting yesterday (Thursday, January 9) that they did not have internet access be it broadband or phone signals.

Openreach says it’s after a ‘third party’ ‘accidently’ broke a cable and that its staff worked through last night to fix the issues.

This morning some residents have said either their broadband or phone have now been able to pick up

An Openreach spokesperson said: “A third party has accidentally damaged one of our underground cables, causing disruption to phone and broadband services in the Sutton Bridge area of South Lincolnshire.

“Our engineers have been working through the night to repair the damage and they’re making good progress.

“Work continues this morning to restore services as quickly and safely as possible.

“We understand how frustrating this is and really appreciate the patience and understanding of everyone affected.”
