Dad gets his skates on for team

A Holbeach man is to roller skate in circles around 200km over 24 hours to raise money for his son’s football team.

Stuart Shearwood wants to get more equipment for Holbeach United U8s for whom his son Klay plays as a goalkeeper.

He’s taking on the 24-hour skate around the Holbeach Hub on Sunday, October 16.

Partner Zoe Blanchard said: “Stuart has roller skated since he was ten, getting involved in supervision and teaching younger children how to skate.

“He decided to take on the challenge because in grassroots football it takes lots of money to keep the team going with equipment, jackets, kits, etc. A few of the parents and other players and coaches are going to be also taking part.

“Each team player has also taken sponsorship forms to help raise funds.”
