Cue a charity match success for Donington snooker player Nigel

Snooker players have raised thousands of pounds for a cause close to the heart of a Donington man.

Spalding League snooker player Nigel Brasier has raised money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association since his own diagnosis in 2013.

He has a form of MND called Primary Lateral Sclerosis. A rarer type of the condition which is slower to progress.

He has been unable to work but volunteers at the Pilgrim Hospital.

The latest fundraising event, held at Spalding Constitutional Club on Saturday, raised £3,386.73 for the association.

“I would like to thank every single person from the bottom of my heart. Those that played or made kind donations. Without you none of this would have been possible” said Nigel.

Chrissy Allwood won the fundraising competition when she beat Martin Spencer in the final.

Ben Wrigglesworth took the highest break trophy with a total of 52.

It is the third year the competition has been held and raised more than £1,000 above last year’s total.

Donations can still be made via the Justgiving website – www.justgiving.com/fundraising/nigel-brasier2
