Crowland miss out

Saturday’s winner-takes-all clash in the GCE Hire Fleet Peterborough League went in favour of hosts Uppingham Town.

A seven-goal thriller saw Crowland Town battle to the end but defeat leaves them 13 points adrift of their hosts, with only 12 points available to collect from their remaining four games. The visitors’ goals came from Harry Tidswell 2 and Jordan Kirchin.
Reigning champions Moulton Harrox’s hopes of sneaking through on the rails were dashed when they slipped to a surprise 2-1 defeat at home to Deeping Rangers Reserves, despite a goal from Joe Townsend. It leaves them in a three-way fight for the runners-up spot, alongside Crowland and Warboys Town.
On a miserable day for local clubs in the Premier Division, Holbeach United Reserves’ hopes of avoiding the wooden spoon were dented with a 2-0 defeat at Oakham United. It leaves them needing to win their last two games to climb above Deeping United.
