CRICKET: Spalding Town left frustrated as Market Rasen cling on

Spalding Town 1st (237-8) winning draw v Market Rasen (181-9)

Spalding Town were left frustrated as they failed to bowl out bottom side Market Rasen.

It meant Rob Ambrose’s side had to settle for only 11 of the 20 points which he’d called for in the ECB Lincolnshire Premier League clash.

Openers Thivanka Rajaratne (82) and Warren Nel (72) gave them the perfect platform but Josh Newton and Ben Smith both went for ducks.
Ambrose only made three and Tim Norris (7) became one of Rutherford’s five wickets.

Wamanga Perera (20), Charlie Kearns (15) and Nuwan Jayasena (16) offered some late resistance as the home side finished on 237-8.
Jack Barratt then took four wickets for 59 runs, supported by Kearns (2-31), Jayasena (2-30) and Perera 1-20 but the crucial tenth wicket eluded Town.
