Court hearing for murder accused

A man charged with murder after a woman was found dead at a house in Spalding is to appear at Nottingham Crown Court for a preliminary hearing.

The body of Kristine Sparane (37) was discovered at her home in Winsover Road in Spalding on Tuesday, November 26.

Brian Simpson (64), of Nene Court, Spalding, was charged with murder after being arrested by Lincolnshire Police.

Simpson appeared at Lincoln Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

No pleas were entered and due to the serious nature of the charge his case was sent to Nottingham Crown Court.

Simpson will appear before the Honourary Recorder of Nottingham, Judge Nirmal Shant KC, for a preliminary and bail hearing later this week.

At that hearing a date will be set for a plea and trial preparation hearing before Judge Simon Hirst at Lincoln Crown Court.

A provisional trial date will also be set.

Simpson remains remanded into custody.
