Couple’s fundraiser full of soul

A local couple have presented £1,450 to charity thanks to a Northern Soul night.

Wayne and Sharon Turner, of Long Sutton, put on the night for end-of-life charity Marie Curie.

The event last month was hosted free of charge by Debbie Rose, at Churchill’s Community Pub, with a donation from Alice and Ned Hoey, of Sutton Park Holiday Park, covering the cost of the band.

Wayne and Sharon said: “Marie Curie cared for our mum seven years ago so it’s a cause very close to our hearts.

“We want to help make a difference and have organised these events for a few years now, so it was Marie Curie’s turn to benefit”

Alice added: “Our family have also benefitted from the support of Marie Curie when they helped care for my father-in-law John who died in August 2016.

“Marie Curie is there at the end to provide the care when someone is dying so we wanted to do what we could to support Wayne, Sharon and the event to raise as much money as possible”.

Lauren Alexander, Marie Curie Community fundraiser for Lincolnshire, said: “Huge thanks to Wayne and Sharon for their efforts and the generous donation from their Northern Soul night in November.

“A big thank you as well to those who attended and Churchill’s Community Pub and Sutton Park Holiday Park who helped make it happen – everyone’s support means we will be able to care for more families like Wayne’s over the coming year.
