The season is only a month old but Spalding United are already celebrating winning a trophy.
Carole Phoenix and Dawn Kent have been named as Lincolnshire FA New Volunteers of the Year, after making an immediate impact since joining the club.
A County FA spokesman said: “Their hard work and fresh ideas are proof of the power of volunteering in football.”
The pair look after hospitality in the club’s boardroom and Carole said: “We were quite proud. It is a big achievement. When we first started the boardroom wasn’t like this and we went to an away game and saw what they did. We had a revamp and now get lots of good comments.”
Tulips groundsman Peter Clare was also highly commended in the Grounds Team of the Year section.
Meanwhile, Spalding have been drawn away to Northern Premier League side Ilkeston Town in the first qualifying round of the FA Cup. The tie is due to be played at the New Manor Ground on Saturday, August 30.
