County crowns galore for area’s best bowlers at Lincolnshire Women’s Federation finals

There was great success for Spalding and District League players at the Lincolnshire Women’s Bowling Federation finals.

Last Monday saw six lady bowlers from the Spalding area travel to Lincoln for the semi-finals, with all making their way through to the final – barring those competing int the two-bowl triples.

However, out of the nine competition titles availabe, Tracy Philpott, Sandra Hammond, Susan Hoyles, Marion Perkins, Chris Jackson and Julie Hicks won six crowns between them, with Cleethorpes players grabbing the other three gongs.

Royal Mail Cart ace Philpott secured the two-bowl singles title, while Hoyles (Goodfellowship) walked away with the four-bowl singles crown.

The Moulton Harrox duo of Hicks and Perkins were the two-bowl pairs victors, while Hicks also teamed with fellow Harrox talent Jackson to wrap-up the two-bowl senior pairs gong.

Also picking up silverware were Hammond (Goodfellowship) in the two-bowls senior singles and Hoyles, who landed the two-bowl champion of champions accolade to add to her earlier title.

Hicks, Perkins and Jackson were unfortunately beaten in the three-bowl triples final, while Perkins was also handed a reverse in the two-bowl secretaries cup finale.

Overall, it was a wonderful achievement from the Spalding area bowlers.

All of the victorious ladies will now move forward to compete in the National EBF finals, held at Skegness in August

There, they will compete for top honours against 12 other counties.

  • More county success followed on Sunday as Moulton Harrox pairing Christine and Keith Jackson won the Lincolnshire Bowling Federation senior mixed pairs title at Burton House Boston.
