Countdown on for flower parade

Plans for the Spalding Flower Parade are continuing apace with a team of volunteers coming together to create new floats for 2025.

The parade itself returns on Saturday, May 10.
With renovation work due to have started on the Castle Sports Complex, this year’s parade will begin and end from Springfields.
It will set off around 11am for the route through Spalding town centre.
This year it will include a variety of new designs, with a host of volunteers having come forward.
A spokesman for Spalding Flower Parade said, after a recent meeting: “Thank you to all those who attended, it was fantastic to hear all your exciting ideas and how your all roaring to get building your own designed floats.
“A dedicated team of volunteers are working tirelessly behind the scenes to bring this exciting, free event to both Spalding locals and visitors from afar.
“Around 50 coach companies have confirmed their attendance bringing visitors to Spalding for the event.
“It is also hoped that the Spalding Water Taxi will be in operation this year to provide that unique link between the arena site and town centre.
“Also, on the Saturday at the main arena site, there will be dozens of craft and independent stalls offering a wide variety of products. There will also be games and attractions for all the family to enjoy.”
As well as the entertainment and stalls on the Saturday, the Spalding Flower Parade Community Interest Company set up to run the event, is also putting on music at the Springfields Exhibition Centre on Friday, May 9.
Tribute acts confirmed include Abba Orbit, Badness and Vicky Earle as Taylor Swift.
“The event will feature a licensed bar, a funfair, and a variety of food vendors, ensuring there’s something for everyone to enjoy,” the spokesman continued.
