Council’s crisp packet scheme binned

Holbeach Parish Council has stopped its crisp packet collection scheme after the recycling company changed its criteria for drop-off points.

The scheme was organised by Coun Isobel Hutchinson, who said: “Members of the public took it upon themselves to send them back to Walkers to make that point and it had been so well received here by parishioners as well as further afield.

“Groups from the other side of Boston were bringing them here; it was so rewarding to see the community coming together over the last eight months to do their bit to reduce the impact on the environment.

“There has already been some cycle parking bought for installation in the town to further the benefits seen from the scheme.”

Coun Hutchinson said Terracycle have changed the criteria for collection points and the council no longer meets these.
