Councillor offers to help authority buy spirit level

A district councillor has offered to help buy the authority a spirit level amid complaints about some of the new planters in Spalding town centre.

Coun Bryan Alcock made the offer during the questions sessions of the South Holland District Council meeting last week.
Addressing leader Coun Nick Worth, Coun Alcock said: “I wondered if he wishes as a group of councillors combine to contribute to buy a spirit level for the council so more of the major articles be put in level, upright or whatever.
“Some of us find some of those that have been put in perpendicular or horizontally true offensive to the eye.
“I’m quite sure a lot of people in the district will agree.”
Coun Worth responded: “I’m quite happy to get a spirit level.
“I know what you mean, it was a lot worse at one stage.
“They did get a spirit level out, but whether they got it quite in the middle, I’m not sure.”
