Councillor looks for good causes

A councillor is looking for good causes to support in the east of Spalding.

Glynis Scalese is the South Holland District Council member for St Paul’s ward, which encompasses the town east of the River Welland as far south as Clay Hall Gardens, Exeter Drive and the Spalding Academy site.

Each councillor is given a ward budget which they can give to causes they feel are deserving.

Coun Scalese says she would like to identify causes in her ward that might otherwise go under the radar.

As an example she says she and Coun Gary Taylor recently donated £600 to the Spalding branch of Sense to ensure all the volunteers there were treated to an afternoon tea to say thank you for their service. Money leftover is to go to purchasing new equipment.

“I’m hoping it will be an early Christmas present for a deserving group.

“Any not for profit groups can get in touch and talk to me about what they do.

“I want to help those who need it most.”

You can contact Coun Scalese by emailing [email protected] or by ringing 07906 641384.
