Council: We’ll make improvements to Castle swimming pool where necessary

South Holland District Council has vowed to “make improvements where necessary” in light of complaints about changing rooms cleanliness and water temperature at Spalding’s Castle Sports Complex swimming pool.

But officers did not say whether any changes had been implemented in the three weeks since issues were first highlighted in The Voice on September 17.

1Life runs the Castle Sports Complex on behalf of the council.
A council spokesman said: “Our contract with 1Life runs until 2018 and we will continue to work with them, monitor performance and make improvements to the facility where necessary.”

Last month Spalding district councillor Graham Dark said some changing rooms were “disgusting” and members of Spalding Disabled Swimming Club were put off by the “cold” water in the main pool. Dozens of Voice readers backed those sentiments.
1Life says only nine of the 17 comments received about the changing rooms this year were not positive and lifeguards inspect them on every rotation off poolside. It also said that its “acceptable” water temperatures are checked in all three pools every two hours.
