Pupils at The Garth School in Spalding have new play equipment bought with donations from South Holland district councillors’ ward members’ budgets.

Twenty members each contributed between £60 and £350 to give £2,370 to the special school.
Pupils now have new weighted push-along toys, scooters, tricycles, wheelbarrows and buggies. There was even some left over to buy new screens.

Coun Sally Slade, who co-ordinated the donation with Di Sawyer, a member of Friends of the Garth School, said: “It was a pleasure for us to attend a Friday afternoon celebration assembly and meet some of the children who are already using and benefitting from the new robust play equipment.
“It is wonderful to be able to see how the designated budget money can make such a difference to people’s lives.
“The children were all smiles as they showed how they use the toys and we heard how the push-along chair has even helped one little girl to start walking.”
