South Holland District Council members have turned down a second premises licence application for Spalding in quick succession.
Councillors rejected Ernesta Tamutyte’s bid to sell alcohol at Global Foods in Winsover Road after she admitted signing false entries in the shop’s refusals register.
Lincolnshire Police claimed that Miss Tamutyte, of Hallgate, Moulton, was involved in the distribution of smuggled goods. They also said she was living with and in a relationship with Marius Legavicius, the owner/manager when the shop was caught selling smuggled alcohol last year.
The panel’s decision notice issued on Friday read: “It was agreed by all parties that these premises had a history of poor compliance with the previous licence conditions and of behaviour that undermined the crime prevention objective.
“The applicant sought to argue that the previous problems were the responsibility of her long-term partner and that she would represent a clean slate and run the premises properly.
“The credibility of the applicant was fatally undermined by the fact she initially stated that she had not signed the refusals register but later had to concede that she had signed false entries under the instruction of her partner.”
A premises licence application for the former China City Restaurant , also in Winsover Road, was rejected in April.
