Council still trying to force sale of Spalding eyesore site

South Holland District Council is still trying to force the sale of the Bull and Monkie site in Spalding.

The press and public were excluded from a meeting last week as councillors discussed the latest picture.
Information requested by The Voice after the meeting shows that three times this year the council has sought legal advice on forcing a sale in order to recover its costs.

In May the council sought “further legal advice on the practical approach to be taken in enforcing the sale of the property and the procurement of commercial valuations”.

The Churchgate site has so far been tidied three times by council workers. It was first tackled in November 2014 after offshore owner Crispen Holdings Ltd did not comply with untidy site and graffiti notices served by the council.

The council has so far spent more than £13,000 on the site. Charges have been put on the property in the event the site is sold.
The council is thought to be keen to acquire the site to build upon.
