Corrie duo set to light up Christmas

Two soapstars are swapping the Coronation Street cobbles for Springfields to help light up Christmas.

The shopping outlet has announced Julia Goulding, who plays Shona Platt and Farrel Hegarty, who plays Lou Michaelis in the long running show will turn on its Christmas lights on Wednesday, November 12.

A spokesman for Springfields said: “The beloved Corrie pair will turn on thousands of lights from the Springfields Festival Gardens – alongside the Winter Wonderland Walk, which opens the following day for the Christmas period.

“Visitors will have the chance to Meet and Greet both Julia and Farrel after the lights switch on in Springfields’ South Avenue Mall (near Levi’s and Radley).

“This year, visitors can expect a fun-filled line-up of free entertainment running alongside the switch-on, with stage entertainment starting at 5pm, hosted by BBC Radio Lincolnshire breakfast show presenter Scott Dalton.

“Local music from Spalding Parish School Choir and Holbeach Brass Band is also on the agenda to get everyone into the festive mood, as well as free giveaways from top brands for lucky members of the crowd to win.
The Switch On itself takes place at 6pm.”

Adam Whittaker, retail marketing manager at Springfields Designer Outlet, said: “We’re looking forward to hosting this year’s Christmas Lights Switch On event, featuring two popular TV and social media stars.

“Alongside the dazzling lights and entertainment, our guests can enjoy amazing outlet savings across more than 57 stores, all open until 8pm, helping to create an unforgettable evening and the perfect way to kick-start the festive season.”

Late night shopping at Springfields will see shops open until 8pm from Wednesday to Friday nights.
