Consti take top spot with 7-0 whitewash

Consti A and Gosberton B have swapped places at the top of the Spalding Billiards League – but there’s just one point separating them.
Consti took the top spot after hammering Holbeach A 7-0.
Holbeach, who have played just one match, sit at the bottom of the league, and are yet to chalk up any points.
Consti players Neil Burton, John Bellerby and Stewart Davis all walked away with wins, while breaks of 45, 36, 31 and 22 couldn’t help Mick Cooper to victory on the night.
Gosberton B fell to second place after losing 4-3 to Holbeach B, who are now third in the standings.
Despite making breaks of 48 and 27, Marcus Pell (O30) lost to opponent Neil Harvey (R60) by ten points.
Holbeach’s Chris Chamberlain (R60) beat Shane White (O50) 200-192, while Des Forbes (R60) got the win for Gosberton, beating Denis Hix (R70) 200-168.
Other breaks on the night came from Harvey (23), Forbes (22, 21unf) and White (21).
Pyramid B whitewashed friendly foes Pyramid A 7-0.
It was a clean sweep for Maurice Phillipson (R70), Martin O’Connor (R40) and Darrell Read (R40) who took down John Twell (R50), John Clapton (R90) and Lester Gaunt (scr) respectively.
Phillipson racked up breaks of 20 and 22unf on his way to victory.
The win has moved Pyramid B up to fourth place in the table.
Donington got their first victory of the season, winning 5-2 at home over Consti B.
Nigel Brasier (R70) and Tony Scully (R40) got the points for Donington, beating Mick Johnson (O160) and Steve Spencer (R110).
Jason Rose was the winner for Consti, seeing off Ben Wrigglesworth (R20) 200-156.
Breaks on the night came from Scully (21) and Johnson (32, 21, 21 and 20).
The loss has seen Consti drop two places to fifth, while Donington hold their position at sixth.
