A Spalding-based care company wants to train unpaid carers and give them a recognised qualification.
The team behind Radfield Home Care say they want to be active in the community, and are taking part in a host of initiatives.
Business development manager Nate McDowall recently undertook a range of qualifications so he can hand out level two qualified accreditations in care to those that do the job for loved ones without pay.
Nate says there’s around 1,700 unpaid carers in Lincolnshire.
“It’s a proper certificate that people can use to show employers that they’re providing care,” he said. “They’ll be able to come to us for advice and we’ll work with them.”
It’s already been a Christmas with initiatives for the company, including a £100 shop at Sainsbury’s for the Holbeach Community Larder and donating £200 for people at the assisted living apartments at Georgian Court, Spalding, so they could have a Christmas party.
The company has also donated presents to The Fun Farm at Weston’s Gift Giving Tree, and has been working with the charity Boxes of Hope collecting presents.
Just before Christmas it also sponsored a event in Pinchbeck which saw Santa attend and hand out presents.
“We don’t want to be just helping those we care for,” Nate said.
“It’s about looking after everyone in the community.”
