LETTER: Could you spare a little time to help us with Poppy Appeal this year?

The very successful 2014 Poppy Appeal ended on September 30, 2015. During the period October 1, 2014 to that date the Poppy Appeal raised £870,000 in Lincolnshire, which was a 12 per cent increase on previous years.

I am both proud and pleased to say that the Spalding, Weston, Weston Hills, Moulton Chapel, Cowbit and Pode Hole area contribution to this was £32,712.37, an increase of some 36 per cent over last year and three times the county percentage increase. I believe the district can feel justifiably proud of this achievement – well done and thank you to everyone who helped or contributed.

A large amount of this success was due, in no small part, to the extra non-Legion collectors and distributors who volunteered to assist.

I am hoping that we can retain as many of those good people as possible for this year’s appeal but I know that this is not going to be possible for them all as their circumstances and situations have changed thereby preventing their continued help.

I am not actively seeking house-to-house collectors, though they would be welcome. I am rather hoping to attract distributors (two or three teams with cars) and collectors for Sainsbury’s (indoor), Springfields (outdoor) and Baytree (indoor).
If you can spare an hour or more in between October 24 and November 11 please call me on 01406 373669 or email [email protected].

Every little helps – both time and money.
