Community cash on offer

A £30,000 pot of cash is available for grants of between £250 and £1,000 for community groups who want to deliver projects that could have an impact on the reduction of crime and anti-social behaviour.

Successful applications in the past have included a youth trip, seen as a diversionary event to keep youngsters involved in productive activities, and assistance with home security for vulnerable people.

Alan Hardwick, Lincolnshire Police and Crime Commissioner, said: “I have always felt communities have a role to play in preventing crime and making the places where we live and work safe.

“Each year I make grants of between £250 and £1,000 available to community groups across Lincolnshire in particular, small community based groups who aim to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour as well as supporting the victims of crime.

“I am particularly keen to hear about projects which are aimed at younger and older members of the community and those which are supporting victims, witnesses and vulnerable people.”

Successful applicants must ensure they meet the specified criteria which includes a requirement to have a written constitution, bank account in the name of the organisation, safeguarding policies if relevant and to be based in Lincolnshire.

A panel will review all applications within six to eight weeks of receipt and funds must be spent in the 12 months following an award.

The fund is designed to enable a particular project not general running costs.

Lincolnshire Community and Voluntary Service (LCVS) community development workers can advise and support you in writing funding applications.
