Commonwealth Games silver for Long Sutton shooter Heading

Long Sutton’s Aaron Heading claimed a silver medal for England at the Commonwealth Games on Saturday morning.

The 30-year-old, who also won silver at Glasgow 2014 and gold and bronze at Delhi 2010, came second in the men’s trap on the Gold Coast.

Heading finished second in the qualification stage, but appeared to have been disqualified due to the weight of his gun.

After an appeal, he eventually came back into the competition 20 minutes before the final and was joint top with 23 points at the first elimination.

He did take the lead outright after the second elimination stage, but ultimately missed out on the gold medal.
