Colin claims victory at Spalding Fishing Club’s tricky winter meet

Spalding Fishing Club held its first match of the winter at a dour River Glen on Sunday.

The river had been out of sorts for a while and this resulted in many whom had booked in to compete cancelling late in the day.

The match, contested between New Bridge and Jubilee Bridge, fished exceptionally hard with ounces being the order of the day.

Out in front was Colin Fisher from peg seven with 30-odd small fish boosted by two Perch for 3lb 10oz.

Second was Alan Smith, who had 84 small fish for 2lb 8oz.

Completing the top three was Alan Thomas, whose 64 small fish weighed 1lb 13oz.

The club’s next match will be January 29, which will be on club water or the free stretch at Surfleet depending on the conditions.
