Clubs join forces for tournament

Two local tae kwon do clubs joined forces to land some notable performances at the South East Regional Championships in London recently.

Lone Wolf Tae Kwon Do of Holbeach and Dempsey Tae Kwon Do of Whaplode joined over 300 people attemping to win the titles on offer.
Thanks to donations from local businesses and internal fundraising they travelled together winning 26 medals and titles.
The gold medal winners were Leah Pound (in patterns, and sparring), Neive Tarrant (sparring), Stevie Hayward (sparring). Chloe Poznaniak (two gold medals in sparring), Millie Barwell (patterns) and Ben Willis (sparring).
The two clubs are part of the same organisation, UKITF, a leading Tae Kwon Do group within the UK.
Their instructors, with 40 years of Tae Kwon Do experience between them, Graham Pound, a fourth-degree black belt, and Luke Dempsey, a fifth-degree black belt, both trained together as juniors.
Graham said: “The performances were a huge achievement for everyone involved.”
Both clubs offer free trial classes. Lone Wolf Tae hold classes in Saracen’s Head village hall on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings.
They’re also starting a Saturday morning class in the Holbeach Hub in the new year.
Dempsey Tae Kwon Do hold their classes on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings in Whaplode village hall.
Classes are open to anyone over the age of four.
