Club’s big step for walking hockey programme

Spalding Hockey Club’s plan to organise a walking hockey programme for the over 60s has been given a boost with a generous donation from Hundred of Elloe Lodge.

The charity, which has been in Spalding for over 175 years, has donated £750 towards putting on the games for both men and women.

The less physically demanding version of the sport is designed to help people keep an active lifestyle regardless of health, age and ability as well as getting people back into hockey.

Spalding Hockey Club is now working on plans to run an initial six week basic introduction to hockey course starting in April 2019 on the excellent all weather pitch at Glen Park, Surfleet.

This will be open to men and women aged 60 plus (or even late 50s) and be on either a Wednesday or Thursday morning for an hour.

Further details will be available in the new year but if anyone would like to register an interest in participating contact Fred Morris by emailing fredricmorris@yahoo.co.uk
