Clubs battle to beat drop

Spalding and Long Sutton are still in a battle for survival in the Lincolnshire Premier Division after defeats on Saturday.

Spalding are just four points off the bottom two after Grimsby’s win at Nettleham while they lost at leaders Scunthorpe.
Ian Snowdon’s 100 and 109 not out from 97 balls by skipper Henry Wilson did the damage as Scunthorpe posted 290/4.
Ollie Dring (64) and Divyeash Vaseeharan (47) were the only members of Spalding’s top eight to reach double figures.
There was a late rally by Brandon Andrews (39) and Yuvraj Ranaut (15) but Spalding fell 85 runs short on 205 in the 46th over.
Long Sutton need to find a win soon to avoid relegation after failing to chase down Grantham’s 322/3, Aqib Afzaal scoring 104.
Jacob Gray hit a defiant 50 and Rajan Sangha 25 but Sutton were all out for 160 still 162 runs behind.
In the South Lincs and Border League Championship, Moulton Harrox continue to look on for a top two finish after comfortably beating Bourne II by eight wickets.
Lee Eyett (4/32), Robbie Townsend (3/39), Harry Lovall (2/28) and Flynn McMillan (1/6) set them up by bowling Bourne out for 170.
Jamie Juckes (59) and Robbie Townsend (37) put on 87 for the first wicket before Josh Newton (37 not out) and Blake Wolstenholme (29 not out) saw them home.
McMillan also scored a 106 ball 157 and Ruari Drumm 101 not out in Moulton Sunday’s 185 run win over United Sports.
In Division One, Tim Norris’ 83 from just 69 balls and 60 from 53 balls by Dinesh Elangovan helped Long Sutton II to a four wicket win chasing down Orton’s 217.
Barry Stanway (3/17) and Aaraz Keshwara (2/18) starred with the ball for Sutton.
Despite 4/33 from Thomas DeCamps, Spalding II lost by 98 runs to Boston II who posted 234.
Neo Timothy’s 45 was the highlight from Spalding’s reply of 136 all out.
Moulton Harrox II’s hopes of the Division Two title were dealt a blow by Baston’s Jules McAline who hit 119 not out in his side’s 203/8.
Moulton were 143 all out in reply, Anish Suwarneraj top scoring with 45.
Similarly in Division Three, Spalding III also restricted their opponents so only two reached more than double figures.
They were Boston III’s Ben Troops (153 not out) and Ian Morris (75) in a total of 292/8.
Spalding were all out for 141 despite a heroic effort not to be bowled out from Ravi Tamber-Hardy who saw off 85 balls for his 18 not out.
