Club is ‘haven’ for over 50s

Spalding’s Ever Young Club has been nominated in the Community Project category, sponsored by Angela Newton.
The Ever Young Club, which meets at The Umbrella in Westlode Street, every Friday from 10am to 1pm, is an opportunity for people over 50 to meet new and old friends, learn new skills and enjoy some fun social time.
Danielle Parkin, who runs the group, said: “The aim is to bring our community together and ensure that every member is noticed and feels included with everything that the club offers.
“As some of our community feel rurally isolated, the Ever Young Club provides the opportunity to socialise and learn new skills with peers in a safe and friendly environment.
“The club has just celebrated its first birthday with a party attended by more than 50 members – we started with just 12 and now have more than 80, with an average of 55 attending each week.
“I truly believe this club is one our community should be proud of.
“It is not only a friendly haven for the over 50s, but if you are attending alone or already with friends there is always new friendly faces to meet, greeting you at the door.”
lTulip Radio has also received its second nomination in the Community Project category, for the leading role it and its presenters play in local events such as the Christmas lights switch-on and the Pumpkin Parade.
