Spalding Golf Club’s senior section played their first qualifying Stableford event of the season on a Surfleet course that was still slightly wet underfoot following the recent heavy rain.
However, with the weather kind on the day some 84 members played the season opener.
Division Two winner Peter Clare was the overall victor on 41 points, earning himself a two-stroke handicap reduction to 24 in the process.
Results: Division One – 1st Richard Edwards 39pts; 2nd Geoff Skinner 37pts; 3rd Wayne Wallace 37pts; 4th Dave Halftech 36.
Division Two – 1st Peter Clare 41pts (overall winner); 2nd John Stanford 35pts (ocb); 3rd John Moses 35pts; 4th DJ Sainter 34pts.
- The annual Lady Captain versus Lady Presidents match took place in Spalding Golf Club’s ladies’ section last week – and it was closer than ever this year.
Some 38 ladies took part in the 13-hole greensomes format event, followed by a light lunch.
The final match decided the overall result, with the lady captain’s team – skippered by Hannah Thorold – just edging home by a 5.5-4.5 margin. Jean White led the President’s team.
