Church gets helping hand to stay at its historic home

A church has been given a helping hand to stay in its current premises.

Crowland Methodist Church has been discussing for the past five years whether to move to other premises or stay at its historic site in Reform Street, Crowland.

A decision has now been taken for the church to remain open for the forseeable future at its current site.

To help maintain the building in good repair, South Holland district councillors Angela Harrison and Paul Przyszlak have donated £3,000 from their members’ designated budgets and a further £500 has been given by a private donor.

The church has served the Christian community and local groups for more than a century.

A spokesman for the church said: “We are very grateful to them all for their generosity and foresight.

“This will help to maintain a place of worship and for community groups that use the building at present and for future users.

“Our aim is to reach out to the people of Crowland and districts.”
