Choir tune up for first concert

A new women’s choir is tuning up for its first concert.
The Mirinesse Singers only formed in October, when music lover Samatha Wray decided to get some women together to enjoy the music she has enjoyed performing and studying in the past.
The choir, whose name is an old English word for “joyful women”, sings a range of music including Samantha’s own Hildegard of Bingen (a 12th century nun) arrangements, to modern sacred and secular pieces.
The choir’s first performance will be at Crowland Abbey on Sunday.
The programme Ave Generosa by Hildegard, some medieval carols, music from Piae Cantiones and music by Rutter, Wilcox and Britten.
