Women’s choir Mirinesse Singers gave its second concert on Saturday at Fleet Church.
Directed by Samantha Graper, the choir sang a range of music about Mary, the mother of Jesus and Mary Magdalene.
The first half of the concert focused on Early Music, including Gregorian chant and Hildegard of Bingen, but also included a world premiere of a setting of Ave Maris Stella, by the choir’s director, and two other modern works by other female composers.
In the second half the choir performed Stabat Mater by Pergolesi.
Accompanied by Peter Graper on organ, the choir gave beautiful interpretations of all of the different types of music, to a good sized and very appreciative audience.
