Children’s chance to make music

SAM_0405Musically-minded youngsters can make some noise by signing up to a series of workshops bringing the sounds of Indonesia to South Holland.
Children aged from five to 13 will be led in the Gamelan sessions by a music ensemble from Indonesia and will get the chance to play metallaphones, gongs and drums.
Liz Lenten, of Scarlet Community Club, which is running the workshops, said: “The instruments are easy to play and allow the children to make enchanting, resonant and joyful sounds.
“The sessions help them develop listening skills, numeracy, physical co-ordination and teamwork, improves all musical skills and is great fun.”
The workshops will be held from 10.30am to 11.45am from this Saturday until July 19 at St Gilbert and St Hugh Church Hall, Gosberton Clough. The cost is £1 per session.
