Children learn Chinese traditions

Youngsters got to grips with chopsticks during a special visit.
Year 1 children from Spalding’s Ayscoughfee Hall School were invited to enjoy a Chinese meal at the town’s Crystal Inn.
Headteacher Clare Ogden said: “They all had a go at using chopsticks and we practiced their table manners.
“They loved all the food especially the prawn crackers and noodles.
“They became experts at putting together duck pancakes and eating them!
“The restaurant was full of Chinese lanterns and dragons and there was much discussion about the Year of the Monkey, Tiger and Ox.”
All the children were given lucky red envelopes and learned about many of the traditions surrounding Chinese New Year.
