Charity shoot goes with a bang

More than £1,000 has been raised at a charity clay pigeon shoot for the Poppy Appeal.

The event, held earlier this month at the East of England Shooting Ground near Whaplode Drove, saw almost 40 contestants in teams of up to four competing for prizes including a Land Rover Experience donated by Duckworth
Jaguar Land Rover of Kirton and a number of shooting-related items.

A raffle contributed some £200 towards the total.

Alan Sheppard, the Holbeach Poppy Appeal organiser, said he was delighted with the turnout for the day and the amount raised. “This is the second clay shoot we have organised and it’s clearly something the area’s shooters enjoy.

“We are really grateful to all the firms who contributed prizes or made other donations, and hope to arrange a similar event next year.”

The Holbeach branch’s next event was a quiz night, held last Sunday.
