A Pinchbeck businessman whose chip shop was broken into last week is “disgusted and disheartened” after discovering charity boxes had been taken.
Ian Donger, who has run Pinchbeck Friar for 15 years, said he turned up for work at 9am on Friday morning to discover the shop had been broken into overnight.
He said two charity collection boxes had been stolen and a third, a large sweet dispenser, had been smashed open and the money inside stolen.
Ian said the stolen boxes were for charities that have helped members of his family, the Crowland Cancer Fund and Butterfly Hospice.
“These are both close to my heart, to have something like this done is very hard to swallow,” Ian said.
Five pies and a hammer with a bright orange handle were also taken, ian said.
Ian contacted the police on Friday morning and was told an officer would be in touch.
At the time of going to press (Wednesday) he hadn’t heard back. A police spokesman said an officer is due to contact Ian soon.
Last week, police reported a spate of domestic burglaries in the area, including Pinchbeck.
