South Holland audiences have the rare chance to see a piece of Broadway theatre with a screening of the hit production Of Mice and Men at the South Holland Centre on Monday.
This dramatization of noble prize winning John Steinbeck’s powerful novella about migrant field workers in depression era California was filmed on stage in New York by National Theatre Live.
This innovative revival marks the Broadway debut of two leads who are already well known on the big screen.
Golden Globe winner and Academy Award nominee James Franco (127 Hours) “crackles with intensity” as George, a drifting migrant worker who is tasked with supervising simple but sweet fellow migrant Lennie.
Chris O’Dowd (Bridesmaids) “is masterful” in his performance of Lennie, a man with the mind of a child but the body of an ox.
Gaining outstanding reviews in the international press, Of Mice and Men proves to be a powerful portrait of the American spirit and a heartbreaking testament to the bonds of friendship.
