Champions Long Sutton round off season with win

Champions Long Sutton rounded off the 2026 cricket season with a thrilling win at Market Deeping 2nd XI.
They finish 39 points clear at the top of Division One South thanks to the 13-run victory.
Sutton elected to bat and were indebted to numbers 10 and 11 Ajith Mandala (20) and Jake Burton (26 not out) to help them to a total of 163 all out in the 42nd over.
That followed a middle order collapse where no-one reached double figures after opener Daniel Plant’s 29 and number three Joshua Baker’s 33.
An all round bowling display kept the hosts down to 150/8 as the close of the 45 over innings, despite Deeping opener Kester Sainsbury carrying his bat for 70.
All the bowlers were economical and took wickets.
Mandala took 2-19, Rob Simpson 2-29, Baker 1-9, Tim Norris 1-21, Daniel Oldfield 1-27 and Burton 1-29.
In the same division bottom of the table Moulton Harrox 2nd XI rounded off their season with a 22 run loss as they came up short chasing Billingborough’s 193 all out.
Zak Maddison claimed 4-17 to help curb Billingborough’s start being 93/1 at one stage.
Also among the wickets were Jotham Suwarneraj (2-28), Sethmina Adhikaramge (2-39) and Rauri Drumm (1-20).
Moulton had a similar collapse, going from 62/1 to 123/8.
Maddison (28) and Adhikaramge (18) provided some hope but Harrox were all out in the 41st over.
In Division Two South, Spalding 2nd XI lost to champions Orton Park 2nd XI.
After putting the opposition in, Spalding restricted them to 189/8.
But they too failed chasing as they were bowled out for 147, again in the 41st over, George Hix (36) and Josh Lawrence (32) top scoring.
Spalding’s second string finished the season in seventh place.
