Celebrating another super hockey season

Spalding Hockey Club celebrated the end of another season with a day of awards.

The day started with the junior section enjoying games in the sunshine followed by their presentations.
Junior award winners were: Under 9 – Blossom Willson, Alfie Spridgen and Brody Richardson; Under 11 – Millie Barker, Sonny Ilic and Isla Worrall; Under 13 – Eliza Morris, Elliot Ashton and Cheston Palmer.
This was followed by a game against City of Peterborough for the club’s Badgers team, which is made up of youngsters who are making the step into senior hockey over the next season alongside some senior members of the club.
The match also provided a great opportunity for some of the club’s young umpires to officiate, providing a great opportunity for both players and umpires to develop.
In the evening, senior club members continued the celebrations with their awards ceremony at Ayscoughfee Hall School.
Presentations were made by club chairman Graeme Matthews, alongside club coach Stu Cunnington and umpire liaison officer Matthew Pilgrim.
The club members had the chance to reflect on their season which has seen great progress for young players and umpires as a particular highlight across the year.
