Caution for businessman after fracas

Police have cautioned the owner of a Long Sutton firm following a fracas outside a council planning meeting.

Just days before a scheduled two-day trial was due to be heard at Lincoln Crown Court, Dr Jerry Harrall, of SEArch Architects, admitted grabbing Glenn Eldridge by the throat. He had previously denied any wrongdoing.

The incident on October 23 last year came just moments after South Holland District Council’s planning committee had approved SEArch’s application to build 87 homes on the former Butterfly and Wildlife Park at Little London, Long Sutton.

Mr Eldridge (43) was supporting Laura Hargreaves, who addressed planning councillors in opposition to the plan.

Following the assault, Mrs Hargreaves re-entered the planning meeting to report the incident to chairman Coun Roger Gambba-Jones.
